New Ads Call on Upton, Bishop to Cease Health Care Repeal
The ads are a six-figure buy that will run over several weeks in both Upton and Bishop’s districts
MICHIGAN — Today, Michigan Families for Economic Prosperity announced the launch of an ad campaign holding Congressmen Mike Bishop and Fred Upton accountable for their choice to raise health care costs when they voted for the American Health Care Act and tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
The ad highlights how Bishop and Upton voted for higher health care premiums for working families and those with pre-existing conditions when they voted for the AHCA. Not only did their vote threaten to raise costs for families, it also gave a tax break for the rich. Upton’s last-minute change of heart on the AHCA is what put the vote over the edge in Congress. All of these issues are highlighted in the ads.
“Every vote on a bill in Congress is a choice and unfortunately for Michigan, our Republican congressional representatives chose the wrong side of the health care debate,” said Lonnie Scott, executive director of Progress Michigan. “Thankfully, the AHCA died in Congress, but we cannot forget the decision made by Congressmen Bishop and Upton to raise health care costs for families and put people with preexisting conditions at a disadvantage by charging them more.”
The ads are a six-figure buy that will run over several weeks in both Upton and Bishop’s districts. Michigan Families for Economic Prosperity is also in the process of creating radio ads with similar accountability messages to run at a later date.
