Statement on the Trump Justice Department Sabotage of the Affordable Care Act
MICHIGAN — In response to the decision by Donald Trump’s Justice Department to stop defending the Affordable Care Act in court, Hugh Madden, communications director from Progress Michigan, issued the following statement:
“The Trump administration is purposely sabotaging the Affordable Care Act by refusing to defend the law in federal court. Making matters worse, the Michigan Republican delegation, including Congressman Mike Bishop and Congressman Fred Upton are complicit in these and other actions stripping health care from Michiganders, including those with pre-existing conditions.
“Congressman Fred Upton has said he is always concerned about those with pre-existing conditions. Congressman Mike Bishop has said the fear of losing health care is not something we should threaten people with. Yet, Upton and Bishop continue to stay silent while the Trump administration continues its senseless attacks on the Affordable Care Act. Upton and Bishop need to condemn the actions being taken.”
